Reflecting on the impact of political decisions over women’s bodies requires diving ‘into the production mechanisms of social and political order, and bringing patriarchal domination—along with other modes of subordination that intersect with sexism and gender injustices to the public agenda’ (Guzmán, 2021).

Patriarchal systems omnipresent across the globe and particularly in the Americas go hand in hand with colonial and neoliberal systems. They impose diverse connotations, realities, and forms of oppression on women that intensify depending on the context.
