Classical theorization around the study of political leadership has been centered on a patriarchal perspective, both in its definition and its scope of application. Therefore, this line of research aims to analyze female political leadership by identifying the substantive and material challenges and limitations within the pre-existing structural inequality in terms of gender that frames the process of constructing women leaders in the international political arena.
